The Editor — field-tested survival gear, no hype

I’m the editor behind Survival Gear. I research, test, and write every guide and review with one goal: help you build a practical kit that works when things go sideways. Expect clear pros/cons, real-world context, and recommendations that prioritize reliability, repairability, and value—not trends.

My focus is the stuff that matters most: tools and multi-tools, bug-out bags and first aid, water purification, shelter and lighting, comms and power, and long-term food storage. When I can’t test something hands-on, I’ll tell you—and I’ll lean on specs, failure points, and user reports to keep the advice honest.

Tools & Multi-Tools, Field-Tested

I cover blades, multi-tools, and essential hand tools with a simple standard: would I carry it when weight, weather, and stress are real? Expect practical breakdowns of durability, ergonomics, maintenance, and smart upgrades that make a kit more capable—not just more complicated.

Emergency Kits & Bug-Out Basics

From first aid to water purification, I focus on the kit items that prevent small problems from becoming big ones. You’ll find checklists, loadout priorities, and realistic scenarios to help you build a home kit or bag that fits your family, climate, and budget.

Long-Term Food & Self-Reliance

I write about food storage, calories, rotation, and simple cooking setups that work when power or supply chains don’t. The goal is steady, boring reliability—clear recommendations, shelf-life notes, and step-by-step plans you can follow without buying a pantry full of gimmicks.

I test gear, verify claims, and publish advice you can trust when it counts in the real world.

Survival Gear began as my own checklist for getting my family out the door fast—tools that won’t fail, kits that make sense, and plans you can actually follow under stress. Friends started asking for the notes, then the links, then the “what should I buy?” breakdowns, and it turned into a blog built around practical answers.

Every guide and review is written to reduce guesswork: clear use-cases, honest tradeoffs, and a focus on what works outside the showroom. When I recommend a multi-tool, water filter, radio, or power bank, it’s because it fits a specific scenario and budget—not because it’s trendy. If something is sponsored or includes affiliate links, it’s labeled, and poor performers don’t get a free pass.

This publication is independent and stays that way by prioritizing readers over brands. I don’t sell “best of” placements, and I don’t let freebies decide what I say. If you share articles, send corrections, or support the work, you’re helping keep Survival Gear straightforward, field-minded, and accountable.
