PITCH SURVIVAL GEAR
Send a pitch for a guide or gear review
We’re looking for field-tested, practical stories that help readers prepare smarter. Pitch how-to guides, emergency kit breakdowns, bug-out bag builds, water/food storage systems, and honest reviews of shelter, lighting, comms, and power—especially with real-world photos, testing notes, and clear takeaways.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
01
Start with the problem and the takeaway
Lead with the scenario your piece solves (power outage, wildfire evac, winter storm, supply disruption) and the one-sentence takeaway. Include who it’s for, what you tested or built, and what the reader will be able to do differently after reading.
02
Bring firsthand testing and specifics
We prioritize original experience: trip notes, kit inventories, weights, prices, failure points, and what you’d change next time. Cite reputable sources for claims, and disclose any brand ties, free gear, or affiliate relationships up front.
03
Make it actionable (not just inspirational)
Give step-by-step guidance, checklists, and decision criteria. Recommend budget and upgrade options when relevant, and include safety considerations (first aid, water treatment, fuel, blades, firearms) so readers can apply your advice responsibly.
GOOD TO KNOW
If it’s a fit, you’ll typically hear back within 7–10 business days. If you don’t get a reply after two weeks, feel free to follow up with the original subject line—no need to re-send the full pitch.
Payment varies by assignment scope and complexity, and we confirm rate and deliverables before you draft. For product reviews, we may request photos, test notes, and a clear pros/cons verdict; payment is issued after publication.
Submissions FAQ
We typically reply within 3–5 business days. If you’re pitching a time-sensitive seasonal topic, note the deadline in your message and include a clear, specific subject line so we can triage quickly.
Yes—if it’s practical, field-tested, and useful to everyday readers. Start with a short pitch (not a full draft) and follow the guidelines on our Submissions page so we can review it fast.
We consider product review suggestions, but we don’t publish paid “sponsored” articles. If you want us to look at a piece of gear, share what it is, why it’s relevant to preparedness, and any deadlines—then we’ll tell you honestly if it fits our coverage.
We’re most interested in clear how-to guides, realistic preparedness checklists, and gear coverage with photos, testing notes, and hard limits (what worked, what didn’t, and who it’s for). Topics that map to tools/multi-tools, emergency kits, water purification, long-term food storage, shelter/lighting/comms/power, and crisis planning are usually a good fit.
